Christopher L. Blanton, M.D. is a board-certified refractive surgery and cornea specialist with extensive expertise in LASIK and vision correction. Fellowship-trained in cornea and external diseases, Dr. Blanton has dedicated his career to advancing technologies that enhance patients’ vision. He has successfully performed over 40,000 refractive procedures, making him one of the most experienced LASIK surgeons in the region.
Dr. Blanton’s passion for vision correction began during his service in the U.S. Navy. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, following an internship at the San Diego Naval Hospital in California. He was appointed Chief Resident during his training and later pursued a prestigious Cornea Fellowship at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia. Dr. Blanton earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Ohio in Toledo, where he graduated first in his class.
As a leader in the field, Dr. Blanton served as Chairman of the American Academy of Ophthalmology’s Refractive Surgery Knowledge Base Panel. He was also selected as a Medical Consultant and Global Medical Advisor for Johnson & Johnson Surgical Vision, where he trains, certifies, and advises hundreds of eye surgeons in laser vision correction. His influence spans North and South America, Europe, and Asia, where he has helped educate and guide ophthalmologists worldwide.
Dr. Blanton has played a key role in groundbreaking research studies on altitude effects on refractive surgery outcomes, as well as a pivotal study that led to the adoption of LASIK in the U.S. military and NASA astronaut programs.
Currently, Dr. Blanton serves as Director and Lead Surgeon at Inland Eye LASIK and is also a Board Member at Pacific Eye Institute. Committed to education, he frequently lectures at webinars, conferences, and universities, including as an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda. His contributions to ophthalmology include numerous publications, clinical research, and industry presentations.
