What is LASIK?

The goal of LASIK eye surgery is to reduce or eliminate the need for glasses or contacts for people who endure the hassles of nearsightedness, farsightedness or astigmatism. This laser technology permanently reshapes the cornea so the light that passes through focuses correctly, resulting in clear vision. LASIK technology has steadily improved since the 1990s and now allows for vision correction for more people than ever.

LASIK Rancho Cucamonga

What is LASIK?

Laser eye surgery reshapes the cornea (the eye’s clear outer window) so that light rays focus more precisely on the retina. To do this, a thin flap on the cornea is made using a laser. Dr. Blanton will lift this flap, reshape the cornea to the desired curvature, and then reposition the flap back into place. Many patients notice better vision as soon as the next day. We offer a fully customized, blade-free custom LASIK.

Vision Options with LASIK

A number of refractive errors can be corrected with LASIK or PRK. Patients who have nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism will find that LASIK (or PRK) do an excellent job at correcting vision both near and far. However, in the case of patients with Presbyopia, most often those over 40, some choices will need to be made. See Options for vison at 40 and up.

Monovision

For people with presbyopia (the progressive loss of near focusing ability of the eye due to ageing), which is a huge part of the over 40 population, monovision is a popular option. Dr. Blanton will correct one eye for distance vision and the other eye (non-dominant) is corrected for near/ reading vision. The brain may adapt to the variance between eyes allowing for clearer vision without distance or reading glasses.
